For my black and white summer exhibition, I was lucky enough to have Pearl Paki model for me, before she went overseas to continue her modelling career.
THE THOUGHT PROCESS We did two clothing changes and locations. The first was more hippy, flared jeans afro type shoot on a bridge, which I also loved, but these shots and dress suited the summer theme more, so went into the exhibition. Pearl is wearing a green vintage dress from Kulture Shock. I have always loved weeping willow trees, even as a kid. There is something a little magical about them. This Weeping Willow is in the reserve across from my home, and I use it a lot for my portrait sessions. It has had buntings, blankets and mosquito nets hanging from its branches. Couches, tea trolleys, picnic blankets and vintage prams have been used as sets underneath. I have even used its fallen branches as frames for my head floral crowns. But over winter its leaves fall off and it looks miserable and unhappy. So for me the Weeping Willow is a Summer Tree and represents picnics and outdoor imaginings.
