It was the middle of winter, and stormy, and cold, yet me and my admirable model went out into the weather to take some photos.... it was our Lady of Winter after all.
Our Lady of Winter is Amanda, a farmers wife, a Mother, and a very lovely person. The cloaks and dress were from Victoria Grove Costume hire. The makeup done by Danielle Sutton. The Hairstyle with headband, which braved the odds for our water photos, were done by Jessica Caulfield from Kulture Shock. Here are the highlights:

This blog post is bit of a carry on from the last blog post. I am entering the planning stages for my new personal photographic project series: Ladies of Colour. I have my ideas and models sorted, and I'm thinking this project series will take many months to complete. During it all, of course I will still be taking on commissions, photographing family and creative portraits for clients.
I have a huge love of black and white portraits. So while I'm Colour focused with my personal project, I am very keen to counter balance this with some black and white portrait work. So I'm offering a chance for you and I to get together and take some black and whites photographs with no minimum purchase of your images. The Black and White Offer: A free photo session for one or two people focusing on black and white imagery. The photos will be cool, classic, and emotive, all the things I love about Black and White imagery. When purchasing the digital photos, at $25 each, Calico Jo's usually sets a minimum of 10 images. With this Black and White offer, there is no set minimum, meaning you can purchase just one or two images. Of course there is still the bigger collections available to purchase as well, but you do not have to do so. This is a chance to be photographed by me if you haven't done so before, a taster experience. A chance to get a couple of beautiful digital images for your profile photos on social media, or to have framed up on your wall. Please introduce yourself to me and let's talk ideas. Then we will go out, you and I, (and whoever wants to tag along), and capture some great black and white photographs. xox Calico Jo So the last photo session from my 'Ladies of the Seasons' is almost completed. Lady Winter was freezing, but wonderful. I had a competition running each season, and picked an entrant each time that inspired me and my creative team, to be made over and to model for us. My next artistic photographic project is "Ladies of Colour". Along with paid work, my personal photo art projects are also a huge part of photography business. It is how I keep inspired, they allow me to try and learn new things, there is no time restraints, so I can go as big or as small as I like. From now on my personal photographic projects will mostly have people I know featuring as models. Why? I could not have made it this far without the investment of others. Either they have invested in me with their time, friendship and support, or they have invested in me as a client and a lot of them do both. Being able to provide them with portraits that they love with my personal projects, is just one way I can show my appreciation of them. People are my inspiration. That being said, I always love meeting new people, and my personal projects are not a closed door thing. Please contact me if you would like to join me in my photographic projects: designers, stylists, artists, creatives of all sorts. ... and if you would like to model for us and we haven't met yet, my next blog post might offer you an affordable way to introduce yourself....
