Introducing Miss Brianna Engert, Madelyn Grace, and Tegan Hill. This photo session was inspired by a tree that had wild roses climbing up through it's branches and 3 girlfriends who dance together.
This was my first attempt at making fresh floral headbands, using flowers from my garden. The girls are wearing cheese cloth that I had dyed, and they chose their own colours. With the photo editing, I wanted to give a slight old world, arty look to them. I really enjoyed working with 3 friends. They worked so well together and made the session fun.

People came out onto their verandas and peeked out their windows when Chantelle and Sarah drove the car down to the lake in front of my house, put on the music, and danced under the moonlight with fire. Here is some short video clips and photo highlights or you can view the still shots below. To have a closer look at the still shots just click on the thumbnails Had an awesome time!! xox xox
Calico Jo I like my child photography to evoke memories when seen.
I want to capture more than what a child looks like, but also who they are in their different ages and stages. What do they like doing? What is their favorite thing? What facial expressions have they taken on? To allow their personalities to show through, the photography sessions will be very interactive. The sitting or standing still poses will be mixed in with moving, exploring and fun. They are allowed to come and look at their photos on the camera as we are taking them. They are allowed to have their own ideas for poses and places to take photos, and then I’m allowed to have a turn too. The finished artwork, will have the feel of something natural and classic and unique to them. I hope the images promote conversations and smiles for the years and generations to come. Calico Jo What I loved about doing a 50's styled photo session, was the poses that represented that era. The good house wife selling baking powder poses and the pin up poster, over the top poses. They were so much fun. Miss Monique Sweet is a 50's model sensation. This is her facebook page: MISS MONIQUE SWEET Jessica Mae owns the cute Vintage clothes and collectables: JESSICA MAES VINTAGE FACEBOOK PAGE This photo session is based around the setting of a 50's country picnic. Here is also a couple of outtakes from this fun evening Miss Monique Sweet and Jessica Mae, you rock my socks!!
xox Calico Jo Was the photographer for the Rotorua Glo Festival again this year. Its a fun way to end my photography year. Part of the Glo festival is the Party in the Park and the New Years Day Brunch. Two stand out musical acts from these this year was the beautiful voice of Alayna Powley and the awesome group, Strangely Arousing. Young talent, going places. Alayna Powley has one more year of studying music and will have her EP available to buy this year. Keep an eye out on her facebook page: ALAYNA POWLEY MUSIC FACEBOOK LINK Stunning voice and she writes and chooses great songs to perform. LOVE HER!! Here is some of the photos I captured from her performances. - Slideshow I've been able to catch a few of Strangely Arousing performances over the last few years, and I have always really enjoyed their music. Love their choice of songs, they sing great, are really entertaining, plus they use brass instruments in their rock songs!! Missed out on their signed cd on the day as I was busy snapping and didn't have $10 in my pocket, but I still got to buy it online. You can buy their original music now from here: BUY MUSIC HERE Here is the shots of their performance from Party in the Park - slideshow For more of my photographs of the Glo festival, including shots of the other musical acts and celebrities there, (Titanium, Whenua Patuwai, Cliff Curtis... yeah I'm just names dropping now), go over the Rotorua Glo Festival facebook page: GLO FESTIVAL XOX Calico Jo |
